9-29-02           Colin Edwards: SBK World Champion

Some racers are simply never satisfied with anything but first place. It looks like we have to count Colin Edwards in that group as he simply refused to settle for second at the final race in Imola, Italy, despite the fact that it would have been good enough for the title.

Edwards took the fight to Troy Bayliss and the pair fought a pitched battle in the final laps for the win. Bayliss needed to win the race with Edwards back in third to retain the title. Instead Edwards took his ninth consecutive win and yet another double to finish the season in style and as World Champion once again.
